Working on the principles of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the kids have designed a robot which will be competing to play a game based on the theme of offering access to clean water. This certainly helped,” says 16-year-old Vatsin Suchak.C on July 16 and will be competing with teams from 160 nations across the globe. end-ofTags: the first global challenge. | AARTI BHANUSHALI Published: Jul 10, 2017, 1:14 am IST Updated: Jul 10, 2017, 1:14 am IST A group of seven youngsters from Mumbai will be representing India at a robotics championship in Washington D.The team started constructing the bot in June and had to face a bunch of challenges as well. A team of seven boys will be representing India at what is touted to be the Olympics of robotics – The First Global Challenge. The only team to be representing India — the boys met at the creative technology workshop in 2009. He says, “Pollutants in the water will need to be separated and clean water will need to be brought to each team’s reservoir within the allotted time.”
The team designed the robot irtually before they put all the parts together, “We built the virtual model using CAD, a computer-aided design software. Seventeen-year-old Aadiv Shah, an aspiring engineer shares what the challenge entails, “We had to build a robot from the parts provided in a kit.
The team has named their robot Neutrino — based on one of the fastest and most energetic particle in physics. We will be playing six matches against various teams; these matches will test our robot on the basis of its strength, navigation and mechanics etc,” he reveals. There will also be a group task at the end of each round where all the teams will work together to accomplish a common goal.
These robots needs to accomplish engineering tasks such as storing potable water, filtering contaminated water, and procuring new water sources (on a thematic play field), elaborates 17-year-old Tejas Ramdas.THE ASIAN AGE. The kids will travel to Washington D. The challenges in the competition include working together with students from other countries. From opening tiny toy cars as China Rotate type wafer roll machine Factory kids to building a robot from scratch on their own, these young boys from the city have come a long way. Back Row: Raghav Ringshia, 18, Tejas Ramdas, 17, Nilesh Shah (Mentor), Rahesh Saraf, 15, Adhyyan Sekhsaria, 15.Harsh Bhatt, 18, Vatsin Suchak, 16, Aadiv Shah, 17.
We stimulated the robot virtually and then visualised the areas it would crack up. It’s going to be a great learning experience for the team,” shares the driver of the robot, Raghav Ringshia. We were aware of the problems we could face on the ground. “We were supposed to make the robot using the parts provided by the organisers and we realised that there was limited scope for us to build the containers, there was no flat surface to build the walls and we have designed it an unconventional way

It may be slightly cheaper in Dubai and Shanghai but not as cheap as Bengaluru, where I now live. After I had told him about the theft of my car I asked what he was doing. In the same cities where transport and food are much cheaper than most parts of the world, real estate is outrageously expensive. These are basic two-bedroom apartments in buildings that are not fancy and offer nothing special. When I lived in Bandra, I stayed in rented homes. It is a distance of six km and the fare is between `85 and `100 depending on traffic. I went to the police station to file the FIR and was told to meet the senior inspector.
In London, a trip of the same distance would be over Rs 1,200. Today the rent in those places starts at Rs 1. The new building next to mine has two flats available for sale, and the asking price is Rs 7 crore. There are at least two-dozen hoardings advertising properties on the road to the city’s airport. Similarly my meal of Rs 50 becomes Rs 150. But that still does not explain the thousands of flats and hundreds of buildings which I can see all around me.The same is true for New York and for Tokyo, Helsinki and Paris. I know that there is very high non-compliance of income tax payment but even that does not explain who are these individuals buying the multi-crore flats in every city of India. It is impossible to get a taxi for this price in any major city of the world. The same is true for food. But by the same logic the flat of Rs 7 crore now becomes Rs 21 crore. For such prices you could get a place inside New York City and inside London.”
One of the strangest things about Indian cities today is how expensive real estate is. He was a plump man of about 50 who was at his desk circling classified advertisements in a newspaper.| AAKAR PATEL Published: Jul 2, 2016, 10:47 pm IST Updated: Jul 2, 2016, 10:47 pm IST A few years ago, my one-day-old car was stolen from outside my home in Mumbai’s Bandra neighbourhood. His wife had been pressing him to buy a house and he was shortlisting what was available. It is a very strange thing, the price of real estate in India, and I wish someone would explain to me why this mismatch of value in this one area exists.
This explains why China Twist Drill suppliers Lutyens’ Delhi or south Mumbai are so much more expensive than other parts of Delhi or Mumbai. The building a couple of hundred yards further down also has two flats available and these are for over Rs 5 crore. One can get a reasonably good meal for about Rs 50 in many parts of India but this is not possible in all the cities I have named above. Sometimes I see a hoarding for basic, middle class homes and even these are not particularly cheap. The truly strange thing is that the conversion of the rupee’s actual value makes India’s real estate even more expensive. I often cycle to work but on days that I do not, or I cannot because of the rain, I take a taxi. The other thing is: who buys these places and where and how do these people make their money Only 5,430 Indians pay income tax of more than `1 crore.Rs 50 represents half a pound in London or about 70 cents in New York, and that is just loose change.5 lakh a month and the price of the properties is over Rs 7 crore. That is why my taxi fare of Rs 100 is actually equal to about Rs 300 in New York and then it doesn’t seem so low. The rupee has a purchasing power parity of more than three to the dollar. Rs 7 crore is a million dollars and will bring you a handsome place in any city in the world. But it doesn’t explain the issue of why flats in Bengaluru should cost so much. Many of these mention the price and there is nothing for less than Rs 4 crore and these are all properties on the outskirts of the city. When it comes to real estate the thing reverses.
Corporate salaries are high for a few hundred individuals who might be CEOs or in the second and third highest job at major companies.A few years ago, my one-day-old car was stolen from outside my home in Mumbai’s Bandra neighbourhood.Aakar Patel is a writer, columnist and executive director of Amnesty International (India)end-of. The question is why.One easy answer is that the British built and left some excellent neighbourhoods and these are unique. I asked if he had found anything and he laughed and said: “There is nothing here I can afford. I went to the police station to file the FIR and was told to meet the senior inspector. Meaning that with one rupee in India you can buy three times what you can buy with that value in America. He said he was retiring soon and would have to leave his official quarters

So far, there is no mandatory regulation on limiting lead content in paints which prompted the government to come up with the proposal. Once notified, the Bureau of Indian Standards would be made the nodal agency to oversee the implementation of its provisions. Manufacturers are also required to submit samples to the nodal agency at regular intervals for testing.
With the excessive use of lead in household paints raising serious health concerns, the environment ministry has proposed a ban on paints with lead exceeding 90 parts per million (ppm). The ministry has now invited comments and suggestions from all stakeholders within 60 days.According to a World Health Organisation (WHO) study, lead exposure is estimated to account for 143,000 deaths per year with the highest burden in developing nations.
“Any manufacture, trade, import and export of household and decorative paints containing metallic lead exceeding 90 parts per million is hereby prohibited,” said the draft notification published by the Union ministry for environment, forests and climate change on April 8.
